Mastering -  often overlooked, sometimes completely forgotten – could be the single most important thing you do to (for) your record… Surely we are overstating the case? What about the fabulous recording, those expensive microphones, brilliant guitars and synths, that amazing bass sound and fabulous mixing that got done, not forgetting the totally winning song.

Well of course; but if your record sounds too thin, or woolly, or there’s so much bass people’s speakers distort, or you can’t hear the vocal, or it’s so harsh it’s hurts peoples’ ears – the chance is they won’t listen to much of it. You certainly won’t be getting any radio play with it; and you definitely won’t be getting that sync placement on the next Hollywood blockbuster.
